Auf der Flucht vor dem Franco Regime siedelt er 1939 nach Frankreich ber, wo er 1944 auf Pablo Picasso trifft. Seine Bekanntschaft prgt ihn ebenso wie die Freundschaft zu seinem Landsmann Joan Mir. In Paris wird Clav zum gefragten Illustrator und Gestalter von Bhnenbildern und Kostmen. Ab 1954 widmet er sich verstrkt der Malerei und feiert in
